Accounting Manager, Pittsburgh, PA
We are looking for an Accounting Manager for a direct hire position located in Pittsburgh, PA.
Summary:
We are seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee core accounting operations and support accurate financial reporting within a complex business environment. This role will be responsible for managing month-end close activities, strengthening internal controls, and partnering with finance leadership to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, experience working within enterprise ERP environments, and the ability to lead and develop accounting staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee general ledger activities including month-end and year-end close processes
• Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting deliverables
• Support preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and corporate reporting requirements
• Monitor and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures
• Partner with finance leadership on budgeting support, variance analysis, and financial performance insights
• Collaborate with operational teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and financial data integrity
• Support external audit engagements and coordinate responses to audit requests
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and strengthen reporting accuracy
• Assist in optimizing accounting workflows and system utilization within the organization’s ERP environment
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and workload coordination for accounting team members
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or team leadership responsibilities
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and general ledger accounting practices
• Experience managing month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
• Hands-on experience working within SAP ERP environments, supporting accounting operations and financial reporting
• Experience with internal controls, audit coordination, and financial compliance processes
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reconciliations, and financial reporting support
• Familiarity with cost accounting, inventory accounting, or revenue recognition practices preferred
• CPA designation or progress toward certification preferred
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across business functions
